The Cross - Two Sides by Bob Sorge

Podcast Session #10

What does the cross really mean for you? Are we all born “sinners”? What does it mean to be “dead to sin”?

These are all difficult questions, but don’t worry, you are not alone in asking them. Today Emily and Jeremy talk about the cross. They discuss the root of our sin and the solution the cross provides. Learn why the cross is such great news and the freedom that we have because of it!

Yes, I know (and hope!) you are still living and breathing. However, when you put your faith in Jesus, the Bible says you died with Him. Romans 6:3 says,"Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

This death is the focus of Session 10, The Cross. When I realized the issues at war within me, the Blood and the Cross took on new power in my life. While the Blood of Jesus deals with the sins I commit, the Cross of Jesus deals with the sin nature I inherited from Adam. This understanding was paramount for me in understanding the Cross. Understanding we were crucified with Christ gives us freedom over the power of sin in our lives. We can now be right before God as we are dead to sin. This does not mean we no longer deal with temptations and sins, but the truth is that the power of sin is dead. If you are struggling with clarity on this, I would welcome a more thorough conversation with you, or feel free to reach out to your mentor. We are here to help!
