Women’s Discipleship
Ordinary Women provides tangible tools and resources to equip women to make disciples and impact their sphere of influence for Christ.
As women embark on this journey in OW, we know that they will draw closer to the Lord, grow meaningful relationships with others, and experience renewed vigor in their walk with Jesus for the purpose of seeing His calling fulfilled in their lives. Intimacy with Jesus births passion, which fuels our faith to make disciples. We encourage women to take ownership of their faith and become contributors, not just consumers, as they make disciples. Our model of discipleship was birthed from a group that wanted to be challenged in their faith and grow in living out these values. From the very beginning, our groups have been about high challenge and high grace.
We address the big question of how to resource those that you disciple to be disciple-makers themselves. We do this through our platform in the context of small groups by utilizing an easy-to-follow system created by and for ordinary people.
We are individual groups of Ordinary Women.
Together we form a much larger group that is focused on allowing the Lord to work in our lives to advance His Kingdom and Church through discipleship.
Our core values:
-
We prioritize our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, knowing that our identity can only be found through intimacy with Him. Everything in our Christian walk flows from our time spent with the Lord. We long to grow in intimacy with Jesus, making our faith personal. Intimacy with Jesus births passion that fuels our faith.
-
Instead of individualism and isolation, we commit to sacrificing our time and schedules to invest in others, building intentional relationships anchored in the Lord. We do what we say, we make time for others, and we maintain teachable hearts. We understand that our lives matter because other’s lives depend on us.
-
We commit to being disciples who make disciples, focused on putting our faith into action. We act out of calling from a place of intimacy and passion produced in time spent with God. First we sit and listen, then we go and do. While Ordinary Women groups are designed to strengthen and empower the believer, we do not exist to create a “holy huddle.” On the contrary, OW believes that as each participant becomes fully alive in her individual walk with Christ, from this place of intimacy she will be empowered to reach others around her who are lost. So while multiplication within Ordinary Women groups will be specific to believers participating in intentional discipleship, the result will, and must be, a spreading of the Gospel among the communities in which we live and the people with whom we interact daily. The ultimate goal is that each woman will bring new believers into the OW process and teach them to be disciples who make disciples.
Our discipleship process:
We believe that discipleship is more caught than taught. With this in mind, we model discipleship within a high-challenge, high-grace environment.
This model is highly reproducible over many generations and creates a clear path for multiplication of new groups.

Intimacy with Jesus
We prioritize our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, knowing that our identity can only be found through intimacy with Him. Everything in our Christian walk flows from our time spent with the Lord. We long to grow in intimacy with Jesus, making our faith personal. Intimacy with Jesus births passion that fuels our faith.
Intentional Relationships
Instead of individualism and isolation, we commit to sacrificing our time and schedules to invest in others, building intentional relationships anchored in the Lord. We do what we say, we make time for others, and we maintain teachable hearts. We understand that our lives matter because other’s lives depend on us.
Multiplication
We commit to being disciples who make disciples, focused on putting our faith into action. We act out of calling from a place of intimacy and passion produced in time spent with God. First we sit and listen, then we go and do. While Ordinary Movement groups are designed to strengthen and empower the believer, we do not exist to create a “holy huddle.” On the contrary, Ordinary Movement believes that as each participant becomes fully alive in his individual walk with Christ, from this place of intimacy they will be empowered to reach others around them who are lost. So while multiplication within Ordinary Movement groups will be specific to believers participating in intentional discipleship, the result will, and must be, a spreading of the Gospel among the communities in which we live and the people with whom we interact daily. The ultimate goal is that each person will bring new believers into the Ordinary Movement process and teach them to be disciples who make disciples.

Below is our statement of faith:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the Old and New Testaments pointing to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal.
We believe that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem all of mankind. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on this earth, performed many undeniable miracles, was crucified for our sins, buried and was raised from the dead for our justification. By the name of Jesus Christ, and His name only, can mankind be saved. Jesus Christ sits at the Right Hand of the Father and will return personally in power and glory to receive His Church unto Himself.
We believe that mankind is sinful by nature and will perish without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as revealed in His Gospel. That God wishes that no one should perish, but that all would come to this saving knowledge through the preaching of the Gospel to a lost and hopeless world.
We believe that matrimony is a holy monogamous marriage between one man and one woman. This means that man and woman are two distinct genders willed by God their Creator in their respective beings, which reflect the image and nature of God.
We believe in the multi-faceted work of the Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin, revelation of the truth of the Gospel of Christ, drawing of the sinner to God, adoption of mankind into the Body of Christ through regeneration, and the distribution and administration of the Gifts and Fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. Jesus Christ is the “baptizer with the Holy Spirit” for the empowerment of the Church through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the local church as a place where believers gather together for edification, teaching from the Word of God, and ministry to and through each other according to their spiritual gift. The local church provides identity to its members as well as encouragement, interdependence, fellowship, correction, and discipline.
We also uphold the Nicene Creed:
This creed dates back to the 4th century A.D. when Christians came together and composed this formative and definitive statement. The Nicene Creed has stood the test of time as a standard of what Christians from every stream of the Body of Christ believe. It is more than an intellectual checklist of doctrine; it is a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God and draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. Who has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy worldwide and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Ordinary Movement is an interdenominational discipleship movement that supports existing churches with discipleship resources. We welcome and make room for people from all Christian denominations, provided they adhere to the core tenets of historical, biblical Christianity and exhibit the key characteristics of Jesus' followers—humility, curiosity, and a commitment to the truth—without which unity is nearly impossible.
To be very clear, we have worked with groups from the following types of churches: Southern Baptist, Calvary Chapel, Assemblies of God, Non-Denominational, House Church, Catholic, Presbyterian, and many more. We do not endorse any particular association but solely aim to guide our participants toward the core teachings of Jesus, which emphasize being a disciple and making disciples. We’re proud to have pastors from across all denominations recommending our platform, and we strive to major in the majors and minor in the minors.

Testimonials & Experiences
-
“Ordinary Women encouraged me to take action in my spiritual life. After taking the initial step of spending more time with the Lord, I began to notice how He was working in and through me to reach the people closest to me. On top of that, I made some incredible friendships that will last a lifetime.”
-
“This study is biblically based and supported by respected theologians. It was incredible to meet other women who are godly and be supported by them throughout the year. I feel like our prayer was powerful and answered. I loved being up early in the morning to sit in my secret place and know that so many others were doing the same thing.”
-
“OW has pushed me to make space in my life for intentional relationships with people and ultimately Jesus. I have felt so supported by each person in my group throughout the last year and hope to show others how important it is in our faith to have a community like this. One to laugh and cry with, encourage, speak grace in truth, and walk side by side in our faith together. Truly a life-changing experience!”
-
"I was part of an Ordinary Women group with several close friends from college—we all live in different states now. This was a great way for us to reconnect and grow in our relationships with each other and God. The OW lessons helped me to better understand God's plan for discipleship as well as the importance of an intimate relationship with God."
-
“Our fearless leader stayed committed and excited about OW! Without Emily’s strong leadership, faith in God, and her commitment to the group, the group would not have grown in intimacy and in intentional relationships.
I’m able to talk more openly about my relationship with God. I’m spending more intentional time with others. I’m able to see others in a different, more loving light and offer grace a little more freely. I am planning to begin a group to extend to others.”
-
“Ordinary Women greatly deepened my intimacy with the Lord! This group and study made me go from needing more intimacy with God to wanting it! Having women pray for me and disciple me has been life changing. These relationships mean so much to me!”
