Is the word discipleship intimidating to you? Have you considered it but felt unqualified? Do you think you have to be perfect to disciple others?

Our culture tends to make discipleship feel out of reach. We think it’s for only those who have their walk with the Lord down perfect. In this intro to discipleship, Jeremy and Emily talk about why discipleship is for everyone. They break it down to the simplest form and give a solid definition.

If you haven't checked out the show, The Chosen, you are missing out. This TV series tells the stories of Jesus from the perspectives of the disciples. In episode 2, Mary Magdalene is getting ready to lead her first Shabbat ceremony, and in walks Jesus. Before she begins, she tells Jesus that He should lead. Jesus responds to her by saying, "This is your home and I would love for you to lead."

What a great example of discipleship. Encouraging others to take action!

In this next module, your participants will lead the sessions. This can be intimidating to some in your group and they may not lead in exactly the way you would, but it is okay. My prayer is that as you create a clear understanding and example of discipleship throughout the year, the men in your group will catch the vision. As you disciple others by pointing them to intimacy with Jesus, modeling intentional relationships, and showing them that they have the tools and support to multiply, you are creating a clear and easy-to-follow path for disciples who will make disciples.

Leader Tip: High Challenge, High Grace

Now is the time this value really shines. As you study the discipleship sessions you will find that they are full of challenge. Do not shy away from this; in fact, use the words of Jesus, as they are full of challenge. However, always pair this with grace, knowing we are all on a journey and God deals with each of us on different timelines.
