Discipleship

Made Simple

WE MAKE DISCIPLES WHO MAKE DISCIPLES AS A MOVEMENT.

OUR PLATFORM EQUIPS ORDINARY PEOPLE TO DO SMALL GROUPS WITH COACHING AND SUPPORT.

WE BELIEVE THAT DISCIPLESHIP IS MORE CAUGHT THAN TAUGHT.

OUR SMALL GROUPS TAKE PEOPLE FULL CIRCLE IN THEIR FAITH WITHIN A HIGH-CHALLENGE, HIGH-GRACE ENVIRONMENT. THE MODEL WE COACH IS SIMPLE AND HIGHLY REPRODUCIBLE, CREATING A CLEAR PATH FOR NEXT GENERATIONS TO MULTIPLY AS UPCOMING DISCIPLE-MAKERS.

HOW WE WORK

We have two specialized tracks for men and women to grow as disciples who make disciples.

  • We call these tracks Ordinary Men & Ordinary Women.

  • Both tracks create groups that run from 6 to 12-month durations.

  • The process emphasizes intimacy with Jesus, intentional relationships, and multiplication.

  • To learn more, visit the OM or OW page via the button below.

Check out this explanation of how our groups work:

CORE

        Values

  • We prioritize our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, knowing that our identity can only be found through intimacy with Him. Everything in our Christian walk flows from our time spent with the Lord. We long to grow in intimacy with Jesus, making our faith personal. Intimacy with Jesus births passion that fuels our faith.

  • Instead of individualism and isolation, we commit to sacrificing our time and schedules to invest in others, building intentional relationships anchored in the Lord. We do what we say, we make time for others, and we maintain teachable hearts. We understand that our lives matter because other’s lives depend on us.

  • We commit to being disciples who make disciples, focused on putting our faith into action. We act out of calling from a place of intimacy and passion produced in time spent with God. First we sit and listen, then we go and do. While Ordinary Movement groups are designed to strengthen and empower the believer, we do not exist to create a “holy huddle.” On the contrary, Ordinary Movement believes that as each participant becomes fully alive in his individual walk with Christ, from this place of intimacy they will be empowered to reach others around them who are lost. So while multiplication within Ordinary Movement groups will be specific to believers participating in intentional discipleship, the result will, and must be, a spreading of the Gospel among the communities in which we live and the people with whom we interact daily. The ultimate goal is that each person will bring new believers into the Ordinary Movement process and teach them to be disciples who make disciples.

We are a solution to the void in discipleship.

 Here’s the problem:

Consumerism has impacted the church in several ways. The people of God have substituted discipleship for being spoon-fed from their pastors and leaders. This is identified in four ways:

Less Than 5%

Fewer than 5% of churches in the US have a reproducing disciple-making culture.

Lack of Reproduction

There has been a vacuum of viral-like disciple-making movements among the Christian community.

Confusion

There is confusion around the term of discipleship and practical implementation.

Overestimating

Overly-optimistic assessments of disciple-making tend to measure wrong outcomes and neglect generational discipleship.

And here is how we solve the problems around discipleship and disciple-making:

Intimacy

Discipleship requires personal transformation.

No discipleship program or system will become a movement without pointing people first to intimacy with Jesus.  Once people encounter Jesus in an intimate manner, moving past information and toward a sincere, deep relationship, God births passion in their hearts.  From this passion, He gives purpose, which moves people to discipleship. A program alone will never do this; however, when intimacy with God is paired with an easy-to-follow system, a movement is created.

Intentional Relationships

Relationship is also at the core of what we do.

We realize that discipleship does not happen by watching a single person from a stage or by following a 10-step program.  Discipleship is about relationships and acting upon the knowledge of the Word of God in the context of them.

Modeling Matters

Discipleship is more caught than taught.

By modeling discipleship as well as teaching it, we bring clarity to the process.  This makes discipleship clear and tangible, rather than a word that is often confusing and misunderstood. We provide next steps, resources, and mentoring to make discipleship attainable and concrete.

Multiplication Is Full Circle

A disciple-making movement is the goal.

This is a discipleship process that brings every Christ-follower to the end goal of disciple-making. Going full circle means we point people first and foremost to an intimate relationship with Jesus. Having our relationship with Jesus at the core allows people to then engage in God-centered relationships with others and ultimately come full circle by multiplying into disciple-makers. Replicating the same process with others. Our platform, tools, and continued discipleship help the ordinary person to overcome barriers that often hinder people from engaging in disciple-making.

REAL LIFE STORIES

“This last year probably saved my “life”. I say that as a guy who has struggled with depression, and leading up the start of OM, I was near my lowest point. The prayer and connection with the fellas in OM, coupled with the power of the Spirit, turned my outlook around, gave me friends to rely on, and support to take on each day and succeed. I love it. In addition, I connected with a couple guys, I’d call deep friends, at this point. Men who I didn’t know before, who have joined with me, and I with them, to grow closer to Christ and each other.”

“For me, OM has given me a voice where before there was none–a slightly boosted confidence in sharing my faith with other men, not just those in my household. I found that being a part of a group and being allowed the freedom to open up and be vulnerable can add fuel to whatever fire is burning.”

“Ordinary Women greatly deepened my intimacy with the Lord! This group and study made me go from needing more intimacy with God to wanting it! Having women pray for me and disciple me has been life-changing. These relationships mean so much to me!”
