In part 2 of the podcast on the Holy Spirit, Emily and Jeremy talk through questions surrounding the Holy Spirit: Why do we study Him? Why our theological differences or opinions over the Holy Spirit shouldn’t divide us. Why do we need to be willing to be lead versus always in control?
Did you ever tell your child about a surprise gift you were getting your wife, only for them to reveal it to her? How about telling a coworker you were leaving the company, only for them to tell everyone before you put in your resignation? Not all mysteries are meant to be revealed.
The truth is, in our faith, there is a lot of mystery.
This can be difficult for the more analytical men in your group who want to know everything or who have a stance about everything. We have to bring humility to the table to know none of us have all the answers, so when we talk about the Holy Spirit, we are talking about a person with whom we have a relationship—not a textbook. Encourage your group in the recognition that we can walk in relationship with God’s Spirit without understanding everything about Him, much in the way we can have relationships with our wives and close friends without always understanding them.
